Moondance Perch
Pender Harbour, BC Completed: 2007 910 SF + 550 SF deck Like an eagle about to take flight, the Perch sits low on its narrow ledge above a quiet bay. Designed as a fully wheelchair-accessible vacation retreat, the house was also intended as a showcase for our clients' art collection. On its narrow, wooded site, getting enough light was a real concern and the butterfly roof was the perfect solution to bring in as much as possible. In addition, the valley between the two wings of the roof separates the service areas(kitchen/entry and bathroom) from the living areas (living, dining and bedroom), giving the home a real sense of spatial coherence. |
