Woodward Residence
Pender Harbour, BC Completed: 2004 2000 SF This modest but dramatic home takes its design cues from its oceanfront site. The pitch and angularity of the shed roof forms are derived from abundant native bedrock and the house's geometry is skewed 15 degrees to reflect the stone ledges that anchor its foundation. Contrasting siding treatments define different zones within the house. Inside, a wall of south-facing windows of different shapes and sizes creates a nuanced experience of connection with the expansive view of harbour, islands and distant mountains that stretches out below. A peaceful sheltered garden graces and softens the uphill entry. |
